History of Goalkeeping – “An American Game-Lone Eagles”

Joe Machnik elected into National Soccer Hall of Fame

” As No.1 Soccer Camps approaches its fiftieth (50th) year, it is fitting to remember its earliest years starting as No.1 Goalkeeper’s Camp. Recently, a podcast created by Kirk Rudell and Tom McCabe (himself a former No.1 Goalkeeper’s camper) entitled “An American Game-Lone Eagles” captured the history of goalkeeping in America, dating back to the late 1890s. Significantly, the role played by No.1 Goalkeeper’s Camp is cited on multiple occasions and in various ways in the development of American goalkeeping. I am proud to learn of the appreciation of thousands of young boys and girls and their parents who have recognized No.1 for its contributions to soccer overall. National team goalkeepers, professional men and women goalkeepers, NCAA Champions and Finalists, High School and Club Championship goalkeepers and the many others that have improved their overall play have credited No.1 for their success. ” No.1 for a Reason”. I think you will enjoy the podcast, please give it a listen”
